Mother's Day 2012

I had the sweetest Mom's Day. Not only did my family show appreciation for me, it really felt like God was showing me all the deep ways he loves me. There was so much good stuff, I really wanted to give it some thought & appreciate all the big & little things this weekend held.

Maddie Laughed!
Maddie gave us all her first laugh on Friday night.  She was extra tired and when we tickled her, we got a great burst of laughter, it was awesome. I have been praying she would give her first laugh to Matt. He didn't get to hear the other two's first laugh. so it was truly special.

Mother's Day Tea
I was so excited to do this with my daughters. Parts of it ended up being a flop, but other parts of it were so sweet. The girls and I entered the cupcake decorating contest. I had the idea to make the frosting look like grass & we were going to stick our flower cookies in. Well, we were going to wait until we got there so we didn't have trouble in transport. Well not only did some of the fall over in transport, but when we got there and stuck the flowers in, they toppled over! Ha. I was quite embarassed, but tried to teach the girls that at least we tried! The Mother's day tea was sweet and hardly anyone noticed that we brought the disasterous cupcakes. At one point during the tea, they had some moms share about being a mom and some daughters share about their moms. Then they opened up the mic. My daughters decided to head up to tell me on the mic: "We LOVE You Mommy!" It was SO sweet!! My eyes welled up with tears!! I'm really glad we went.

Clean House
The day  before Mother's day, Matt cleaned the house for me. It was SUCH a gift. He knew that in this season, helping me out extra with the housework would mean the most. He didn't even stop there, but it really did mean a lot.

Gifts
And on Mother's Day, right when I woke up, the girls brought gifts to me. Both Sophia and Zoe had made cards for me. I love those gifts the most. I love to see their little hearts. I think it's so important to not shut them down in their efforts to love you. It's a joy and a gift for them to love on mom. Matt got me another "bomb mom" shirt. And i love it. I  SO would wear these shirts every day of the week. They make me feel powerful and important.
Breakfast
We headed out to eat before church... and even that was a fantastic treat. It was neat to have beat the crowds... I feel like that was a gift from God. A quiet time together is the best time to me. And someone lots of crowds, even with the same great food, make it a little less fun. So that was sweet and the food was great.

A Trip to the Beach
After church, we headed to Cambria in CA's Central Coast. This was another sweet time. The girls had a blast playing in the sand & in the water, we made lots of little discoveries, had some treats... and got home in time for bed. Truly it was lovely. We are thankful.

Mommy Resource Basket
I have a little basket I keep treats-- like dark chocolate & tea-- for when i have one of those MOMents and i need a deep breath. A sweet & unexpected thing was that I got to fill up my mommy resource basket to the brim. I'm ready to go for another year!

Bonded with Matt
And not only did I have a beautiful weekend with my girls, but I felt like I connected with Matt. Sometimes with a busy family, it's hard to find time to connect... Sometimes you get so caught up managing the house & kids, and you have your work to do to pay the bills, that you just exist. BUT it was such a sweet weekend and such a gift to connect with my hubs!

I'm so thankful! I felt like it was the perfect weekend. Thank you God for knowing me and singing a sweet song over me!

Bromp

This is a  video of Maddie at 1 month old.

We intended to capture her coos.

What we actually captured was something entirely different.

Zoe lost her second tooth tonight!! And just like the first, it was after biting into an oreo! :)

Calvin & Hobbes

Another day, another photo project.

We saw this idea floating around online and it was too fun. Of course this is the many faces of Calvin from the comic Calvin & Hobbes. Enjoy!

We have some interesting things on our "to do" lists right now inspired by our creative kids... including Zoe's lemonade business and a Bug Parade.

May 4th is Star Wars Day... and we plan to have some fun with it. Here are a few of the things we are going to do...:

Yoda Pizza

We are so making our own Yoda Pizza!!

Star Wars Cookies
We are definitely going to make Star Wars cookies with our cookie cutters from William Sonoma. WIN!

What to Watch...
It's just one day, so we couldn't possibly watch all Star Wars available. Maybe some Clone Wars? I will have to let Matt decide that one.

A few more fun things:

Costumes!
And of course our girls are going to be in their Costumes!
Maddie will be Yoda
Sophia, Leia.
And Zoe... a Jedi.

May the 4th be with you!
