Our Simple Summer Bucket List

This is our Simple Summer Bucket List.

I took the time to organize it, so I thought I would share it in case it is helpful to someone else.

It is key for me to organize. I love the lack of schedule during the summer, but at the same time, it is my achilles heel. I thrive in structure. We don't need a rigid schedule, but a basic routine for how the day flows and a theme or purpose for the day so we know the direction of focus.

Our Routine
Becky work 630-930a
Continue with chores, right away in the morning
Day's Activities in Morning (most of the time)
Rest in Afternoon (a built-in rest for me too and time to do devotions)
Bed by 9, Lights Out by 9:30 p.m. (reading, playing quietly)

Also, when creating my schedule I first look at what I NEED to get done. Then, I remember what i know about myself. Then I plan in the pratical and the fun.

What I need to get done.
·       I work part-time from home. So It's important for me to make sure I'm allowing time to get that work done.  Every morning before Matt goes to work, I work 6:30-9:30 a.m.
·       I need to allow time for laundry and clean-up. That's why Monday is our "home" day. That's when I do laundry, bathrooms and catch up on the house.
·       Also, it’s important that our girls continue to learn they have a part in our home. That’s why, we prioritize chores as well.
·       I also know that when I have stuff going on every day, I exhaust myself. So I have only planned outside activities 2x a week. Free day works for mom, too. If I'm up for a great adventure, we can seek one out... or keep it chill at home.

Our Day Themes

After we figured out what we needed to get done, we plugged in our  fun and adventure days. The only day that's a guardanteed out of home day is Library/ Kern County Museum Day. All the others could go any way we want... and if we need margin or rest, we can stay home.

Here is the way we organized it to keep it simple and to allow us to adventure when we need or want an adventure:

On our calendar, we have the themes for the day written (Monday: Home, Tuesday: Water/ Park, Wednesday: Free, Thursday: Library/ KCM, Friday: Friend). Each theme is written in a different color. Each bag has adventures that work along with that day. So Tuesday's Water/ Park Day is written in pink and we will be able to pull from the bag with the pink papers in it.

And finally, here is our list of summer adventures...
